Hutts are hermaphrodites and live a long time. The hutts have large egos because when they still lived on Varl, they worshipped the gods Evona and Ardos (the two suns). Evona slid into a black hole, setting off a chain reaction, destroying most of the planets, turning them into asteroids. Ardos, soon after, turned into a white dwarf. Because the hutts survived this, they thought themselves as greater than the gods.
